Today it coincides with the fourth anniversary of the worst catastrophic incident of history, which is the martyrdom of Farkhondeh, a girl, was brutally murdered by the angry men of her own society by charged of burning the Qur'an by killing the entire Afghan society, especially women, the weakness of law enforcement. This incident is still in public mind after four years.
Farkhunda incident is not the first case of violence against women in history of Afghanistan, still Afghan Women are the victims of the such cases in clear way, according to a report by the AIHRC (Afghanistan Independent Human Rights commission) last year,4,000 cases of violence against Afghan women have been recorded, which indicates an increase of 11.7% in violence against women, the main reason being the lack of proper prosecution of perpetrators of crimes and the promotion of culture of exemption from It has been a punishment that has led to the normalization of violence against women and children and an increase in the graph of violence in the community, as we all saw a shocking case of child murders over the last few days, called Mahsa.
The Afghan Women's Network, as a women's rights organization, calls on all legal and judicial authorities to seriously prosecute cases of violence against women and children, prosecuting the perpetrators of such crimes in public and quickly reviewing such cases, so that public harassed minds are restored, and the lost trust of people on all legal and judicial authorities restored.
Our Demands:
- We call on all legal judicial authorities and ad-hoc bodies to seriously investigate cases of violence against women.
2. We demand the implementation of the Law on the Elimination of Violence Against Women over the perpetrators and violators of violence against women.
3. We want to ensure the justice and social empowerment of women, which is conducive to the well-being and improvement of the situation of women.
4. We demand compliance with national and international laws and obligations to support women who are committed to Afghanistan.
5. Investigative organs, courts and tribunals should publicly present the final report of the martyr Farkhandeh case.
